Bearly Scene...Black Bear...
I believe I mentioned once that because I live in such a remote area I often get the "unexpected" visitors,( in reference to a snake I posted a photo of ), yesterday however right around dusk I had quite the unexpected visitor right at the steps leading off my front deck. I had just stepped inside with my dogs, got myself a cold soda, and was half reading the local newspaper when I heard my dog going crazy at the front door. I approached the door, expecting to find a person or perhaps a squirrel or stray cat, imagine my surprise to see a black bear approaching the deck! Just sauntering toward us like he had no worries! I saw that he was focused on a half eaten bowl of dog food still on my deck! I was shocked to put it mildly, especially realising I had just been out there less than 15 minutes earlier! Well in all of the chaos and excitement, I grabbed my camera, and attempted to get a picture of it! Needless to say I was too afraid to step outside to capture the moment, and I blew what would have been possibly the most exciting Kodak moment of my life! =[ Due to my trembling hands, bad lighting and the fact that I took it through a window screen I only managed to capture this pic which I titled "Bearly Scene"! I did however manage a decent photo of his tracks, after I was sure he had gone back to his rightful place in the mountains!

Beautiful Cactus Bloom~
Hello all! Sorry I haven't posted for a bit. Things have been a little hectic now that summer is in full swing. Seems that the yard work and gardening is endless but always rewarding! I'm going to get on a roll here and post some beautiful shots of the wonderful things I've managed to capture as of late.

If only Blogger had scratch and sniff !!!!!
I care take an old family cemetery which adjoins my property. It is the resting place of my great grandparents, and theirs before them. Though many people find cemeteries to be lonely, sometimes scary places, I am just the opposite. I love going there, love reading the stones and learning about the lives and the history of those resting there. I find it to be a peaceful serene place to reflect on life. Many of the flowers there have been there for as many years as my ancestors stones. Their aroma adds to the tranquility of the place itself. I went there today to mow the grass, but got caught in a sudden downpour of rain. I didn't get the mowing done, but I did manage to capture a few shots of some of the beautiful flowers!

Unexpected Guests...
Sometimes it can be the unexpected guests who bring us the most joy at the end of a long day. As I found out recently while mowing grass for several hours, I looked up to discover that I had an unexpected audience. Their visit was brief, but welcomed. I'm only sorry I couldn't get closer for your viewing pleasures. The sound is muted so that you wouldn't be deafened by the roar of my lawn tractor! ;) I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. ( Next time I'll try to get a closer capture! )

"Stranger Among Snakes"
The perks of living in a remote country setting is that your visitors aren't always expected, or ordinary. I met this "little fellow" today. He didn't stay long and was on the move when I tried to capture the moment! ;) He disappeared under some old wood, just as I managed this shot! Don't worry he's not in any danger. ;)
